Games, Practices and Tournaments
Our program was conceived to automatically schedule games, practices and tournaments.
The user must first enter the required data and then ask the program to automatically
schedule games. The end of many headaches. For example, the program
took approximately 90 minutes to schedule some 1500 games (after the required data
had been entered). Afterwards, you can manually enter games and practices,
move games and practices, etc. The program schedules games taking into account the following constraints :
- Availabilities of the locations where the games are to be played.
- Availability of teams.
- Teams' preferences with regards to location, day and time.
- Number of games to be played against opponents in the division.
- Number of games to be played against opponents in other divisions.
- Total number of games for each team.
- Priority to classes, e.g., schedule Pee-Wees before Bantams.
- Alternate between home and away games.
The program schedules tournaments taking into account the following constraints.
- Availability of the locations where the games are to be played.
- Availability of teams.
- Teams' preferences with regards to location, day and time.
- Number of games to be played against opponents in other divisions.
- Total number of games for each team.
- Priority to classes, e.g., schedule Pee-Wees before Bantams.
- Alternate between home and away games.
- Takes into account the first game entered manually when such is the case.
Supports the following types of tournaments :
Round-robin; single elimination with or without a consolation round; double elimination
winner vs winner); double elimination (winner vs loser) with or without a consolation
round; double elimination (winner vs winner) where a team must lose twice before being
out of the tournament.
For the person in charge of ice time and/or fields, games and practices :
Our program automatically schedules your regular season games. However,
you have the possibility of manually entering your games and practices.
Here are the latest modifications made in this module :
- Possibility of indicating, for each team, the exact
dates on which the team wants to host games. The program will take
these parameters into account when completing the automatic schedule.
- Possibility of blocking out one or more days on which the team is
not available to play, such as Monday and Wednesday.
- Upgrade in the performance of the program where it now
requires less ice time and does a better job.
- Possibility of printing schedules by team, by categories and
levels, by league, by association within a league, by city within a league, etc.
- The program validates your data before you begin the schedule.
It verifies if the teams'preferences with regards to availability, locations
and times coincide with available times.
In doing so, it eliminates wrong entries before automatically scheduling your games.
- The program analyses the automatically prepared schedule. It checks to avoid 'back-to-back games,
meaning two teams playing each other in consecutive games. It verifies the distribution of home and away games
as to eliminate a team playing three away games before playing a home game or the opposite.
It insures the spacing in days between games. This program is well appreciated as it allows you
to analyse quickly the schedule.
- When preparing a tournament schedule and once it is completed, the program will print
out the grid with all the required rectangles and branches.
